Air is purified and divided into two streams after compression. One stream is cooled in the main heat exchanger, expanded in the turbine, reheated, and then sent to the air booster. The other stream is expanded in stages and cooled to about 170K, with part sent to the lower column for rectification and part reheated and returned to the booster.
In the lower column, liquid air and nitrogen are collected and further rectified in the upper column to produce 99.6% pure liquid oxygen. Argon fraction from the upper column enters crude argon columns, then the pure argon column, yielding 99.999% liquid argon.Waste nitrogen from the upper column is partly used for regeneration and cooling. Nitrogen from the assistant column can be taken as product or sent to a cooling tower, with a chiller added if extra cooling is required.

Design principle
1. This plant is based on the different boiling point of each gas in the air. Air is compressed, precooled and got removal of H2O and CO2, then to be cooled in the main heat exchanger until it is liquified. After rectification,production oxygen and nitrogen can be collected.
2. This plant is of MS purification of air with boosting turbine expander process. It is a common air separation plant, which adopts complete stuff filling and rectification for argon making.
3. Raw air goes to air filter for removal of dust and mechanical impurity and enters air turbine compressor where air is compressed to 0.59MPaA. Then it goes into air precooling system, where air is cooled to 17 ℃. After that, it flows to 2 molecular sieve adsorbing tank, which are running in turn, to be got removal of H2O, CO2 and C2H2.

PSA nitrogen generation adopts carbon molecular sieve as adsorbent whose capacity of adsorbing oxygen is larger than adsorbing nitrogen. The two adsorbers (a&b) alternately adsorbing and regenerating to separate oxygen from nitrogen in air to obtain purified nitrogen by Auto-operated valves controlled by PLC.
